Hi there,

I'm Peggy! Life's an adventure, and I'm ready to explore it with you. I'm a puppy, so everything's new and exciting. I love to play and discover, and I'm always up for a good cuddle. I'm friendly and sweet, so I'll always be there to cheer you up. I'm curious too, so I promise we'll never have a dull moment together. I can't wait to meet my forever family and start our adventure together. Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend, a playful companion, and a loving family member. Let's make some unforgettable memories together!

The Staff at the HBSPCA describe me as: Playful, Curious and Friendly.

Peggy is a sweet pup who needs an adult only home due to a birth defect where she is prone to back injuries and pain with malformations. Peggy will need to stay lean and strong and avoid jumping down from heights. Training her to use ramps and stairs to get on and off surfaces is recommended. Peggy will need to be walked on a harness. Consider a referral to a rehabilitation specialist to see what preventative strengthening exercises could be useful to keep her back and hind-end strong. Due to Peggy's unique anatomy, she may be prone to urinary tract infections. Routine cleansing after urination is recommended. Peggy will need daily walks, exercise, and enrichment to keep her busy and in proper shape. Peggy seems to get along with other dogs with proper introductions. Calm dogs would be ideal due to Peggy's lifestyle. Peggy has minimal experience living outside a shelter and will need a patient family to teach her what life is all about.

Every adoptable animal at the HBSPCA comes with everything your furry friend needs.

This includes all Age Appropriate vaccinations* and deworming, testing and prevention procedures before adoption (when required), flea prevention treatment, microchipping, dental work and bloodwork (when recommended by our veterinarian).

* Puppies and Kittens under 16 weeks must visit your vet for any remaining Boosters and Rabies vaccination.

Most importantly, your adoptable animal always comes fully spayed/neutered.

We also offer every adoptable animal one sample bag of the Hill’s Science Diet food (which this animal has been eating in our care.

All-in, our adoptable animals come with over $1,000 of value.

For the wellbeing of all animals in our care, members of the public are not able to meet with adoptable animals until they have completed a formal application, and are invited to a scheduled meet-and-greet appointment.

In addition, the majority of animals in our care are placed in foster homes until they are adopted to optimize their health. Most animals you see on our adoption page are not located on-site, in our shelter.

  • Your Commitment

The HBSPCA facilitates adoptions through a unique Adoption Commitment Approach. By submitting a fully-refundable deposit today, which will be paired with your application, we're able to offer the following guarantee.

  • Our Guarantee

Every animal you see on our website is currently available for adoption. We limit the total number of applications per adoptable animal to a small group of high-intent applicants, carefully review every application, and keep our website up-to-date.

  • A Better Experience

Your valuable time to complete an application, and your commitment to adopt with us, is respected. In other words, we review your application with ~2-5 other applicants (instead of dozens or hundreds), and guarantee a response.
